CANKADO’s Tele-Cardiology Application, QTc Tracker Enabled to Achieve Upto 99% Reduction in Turnaround Time for QTc Diagnosis

CANKADO’s project manager Lena-Sophie Fink will present the digital poster at QoCC 2021 on 9th February

CANKADO together with Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, West German Study Group and Kliniken Essen-Mitte GmbH will present a digital poster at ‘Quality of Cancer Care’ Congress 2021, which is ongoing as a virtual conference this year. The poster presentation is based on the findings that upto 99% reduction of turnaround time for QTc diagnosis has been achieved using CANKADO’s tele-cardiology application, QTc Tracker.

The findings were captured within two multicenter, oncologic phase III-IV trials using CANKADO’s QTc Tracker. The application allows on-site ECG measurements and real-time transfer of ECG records for tele-cardiology diagnosis. As per the findings, the mean total turnaround time of the routine QTc evaluation was 140 hours. The mean turnaround time of the QTc Tracker application until the receipt of ECG diagnostic report by the oncologist was 2.4 hours. The turnaround time further decreased to 12 minutes when QTc Tracker was combined with cardiologic on-call service for ECG diagnosis. Hence the findings proved that in contrast to the routine ECG workflow, the mean total turnaround time thereby reduced by over 99%.

CANKADO’s project manager Lena-Sophie Fink will present the digital poster at QoCC 2021, virtual congress on 9th February. Quality of Cancer Care (QoCC) is the interdisciplinary online congress organized by the German Cancer Society (DKG) and the Working Group of German Tumor Centers (ADT) every two years.

The poster presents the outcomes obtained by replacing the conventional way of interaction between oncologist and cardiologist by a smartphone APP solution. The application named QTc Tracker developed by CANKADO supports recording single-lead ECGs directly at the cancer center and ECG transmission from APP to APP to a tele-cardiologist for immediate diagnosis.

The single lead ECGs were recorded using Alivecor’s KardiaMobile device or Apple watch. The  QTc Tracker enabled the real-time transmission of the ECG files to a tele-cardiologist for immediate diagnosis. This enabled a turnaround time reduction of upto 99%. The tele-cardiology application, QTc Tracker is especially beneficial for centers that don’t have an on-site cardiologist and getting an ECG report on the same day reduces uncertainties for patients and increases treatment continuity. Hence this enables increased patient and healthcare team satisfaction.
